Do children take part on their own or with an adult?
It depends on their age. Anyone in Year 3 or above can run on their own, they just need to be escorted to the Start and then collected at the Finish. Adults will need to accompany Reception to Year 2 pupils on the course, with a minimum ratio of one adult for every six children. If an older child (Year 3 or above) needs an adult to accompany them for medical or other reasons, this can be booked through the registration system. Please note that additional adults are there to support the children and are not official participants so will not receive an official finish time. Medals are also for children only, not accompanying adults.

We anticipate a high number of entries and, unfortunately, we can’t guarantee all schools will be successful. If unsuccessful, don’t forget about the TCS Mini London marathon in schools!

Please also check your contact details are accurate and up to date.
Will results be available?
Yes. Each participant will have a timing chip in their bib number, and we’ll publish their results on our website after the event. We won’t publish children’s names so if you want to check your times, please keep a note of your bib numbers.
Does the school bring their group, or can parents/carers take their own children?
That's up to the school. We do need the school to register, provide us with some contact details and be responsible for making sure all the participants get their bib number. Schools can either bring their group, a bit like a school trip, or can pass information to parents to bring their own children. Schools will be sent the running bibs, which they can share with parents. Schools will also be sent flyers with all the key Event Day information, which they can share with parents/guardians.
What if children have a medical condition – where do I record this?
Please record any relevant medical information on the back of the participant bib number. This will also need to include contact information so we can make sure we get any help required on the day.
Can we request additional places? We have had a lot of interest and will definitely use them
Schools that are allocated places won’t be able to request more places but, closer to the event, we’ll ask all schools to confirm their final numbers. If not all places are needed, schools can reduce their numbers.

How do you support children with disabilities?
The event is accessible to all children and young people who want to take part. We have a Sensory Calm Tent at the Start Area for anyone who may need time away from the crowds. There is also a separate area participants can start from if they need somewhere with more room. There will be British Sign Language interpreters at the event. We’ll have running bibs available for participants who are deaf and participants who may need a bit more space, to help stop them being overwhelmed. These bibs say, ‘Deaf Runner’ and ‘Give Me Space’. These bibs can be collected from the Information Point at Horse Guards Parade.
How will drop-off at the Start and collection at the Finish work?
Participants will need to be escorted to the Start (Horse Guards Parade) in time for the beginning of their wave. Before leaving the participant, their accompanying adult must tear off the side strip from the participant’s running bib, which is what the adult will need to show to access the Participant Collection Area at the Finish. Only one parent/guardian may enter the Participant Collection Area.
Participants will complete their distance and then stay at the Finish in a secure space until they are collected. (If children are in Year 2 or below, they must have an adult runner with them, with at least one adult for every six children.) The Participant Collection Area is approximately a ten-minute walk from the Start Area. There will be a map in the Event Guide for more information.

Does the distance need to be measured exactly?
You can measure the exact two-mile distance if you want to and if you have time. If not, feel free to use a rough estimate of the distance. The most important thing is that children are getting out of breath and feel the benefits of physical activity.
If your school does The Daily Mile (15 minutes of jogging or running) then that counts towards completing the TCS Mini London Marathon in schools. The distance can also be completed using the WWF-UK Daily Dose Guide.
Do pupils have to run – can they walk instead? What about those with a disability?
We’d like children to get out of breath if they can, as this is what helps them become fitter and healthier. Some children might run the whole time, others might jog or slow down to get their breath back.
Children with disabilities can complete the event in a way that meets their needs – whether that’s walking, pushing themselves, being pushed, walking with crutches, or in whatever other way they can. The TCS Mini London Marathon in schools is for all children and young people!
I am a parent/carer – can I register my child?
The TCS Mini London Marathon in schools is for UK schools to enter and complete during the school day, so parents/carers are not able to register their children. We would encourage parents and carers to speak to their school, though, and ask them to take part.
What happens once you've completed the challenge?
Once your school has completed the TCS Mini London Marathon in schools, you’ll receive an email to confirm the total amount of pupils who took part. Providing your school has reached the minimum amount required, you’ll then receive your school trophy. We would love it if you sent us your photos and stories!
Can a PTA register for the event?
Only a direct school staff member may register for the event.
Is there still a physical TCS Mini London Marathon taking place?

Will there be a cut-off finish time?
All riders in the Ford RideLondon-Essex 30, 60 and 100-mile events have eight-and-a-half hours to complete their ride from the departure of the last start wave. We expect the final participants to finish at 18:00. Further information on specific timings will be within the Event Guide.

We have contacted all charities with places rolled over from 2024 and offered either a refund to exchange their RideLondon places for charity places in the 2025 or 2026 TCS London Marathon.
Will the mass participation rides take place in Essex in 2026?
We hope so and Essex County Council is keen for this to happen. RideLondon and Essex County Council have a three-year agreement for the event to take place in Essex until 2026.
Will FreeCycle still be a part of RideLondon in 2026?
We hope so. FreeCycle is a hugely popular part of RideLondon with riders of all ages and abilities enjoying the wonderful opportunity to cycle on traffic-free roads through the centre of our great capital city past world famous landmarks. We also took the FreeCycle concept outside London for the first time in 2024 with the successful staging of RideGlasgow FreeCycle in June.
Can I ride in another event to complete my London Classics in 2025?
Yes. We will reserve 400 places in the 2025 Etape Loch Ness, a 106KM ride on closed roads in the beautiful Scottish Highlands, and riders can substitute RideLondon for this event next year as part of their London Classics. Read more about Etape Loch Ness, which takes place on Sunday 27 April 2025, here. Participants also need to complete the London Marathon and two miles at Swim Serpentine to complete the London Classics. The events can be done in any order over any number of years.
I have entered the RideLondon-Essex 100 – do I get a refund?
Yes. Everyone who has entered the 2025 RideLondon-Essex 100 (the only event currently open for entries for 2025) will get a full refund of the entry fee they have paid. We have emailed everyone who has entered to explain the situation and confirm that the refunds will be made by Friday 27 September.
Will RideLondon come back in 2026?
We hope so. We have held 10 hugely successful editions of the event since the inaugural RideLondon in 2013. The event has inspired more than 300,000 lapsed cyclists to get back on a bike or to cycle more often and has also raised more than £85 million for charity.
Will RideGlasgow FreeCycle take place in 2025?
No. There will be no RideLondon or RideGlasgow FreeCycle events in 2025 while we bring all stakeholders together to work on a new concept for the events.
Is this related to the cancellation of the RideLondon Classique UCI Women’s WorldTour race?
No, it is not. We were very disappointed when the UCI unilaterally changed the dates of the women’s WorldTour calendar for 2025 as the Classique could not take place on the new date but that was not the reason for the decision to take a pause in 2025.
Will it be at the same time of year?
This will be part of the strategic review. From 2013 to 2019, RideLondon took place in late July/early August. Since 2023, it has taken place on the late May bank holiday weekend.
Why is RideLondon not taking place in 2025?
We feel the time is right to take a pause and bring all stakeholders together to work on a new concept for RideLondon, the world’s greatest festival of cycling. We have now held 10 hugely successful editions of the event and inspired more than 300,000 people to get back on a bike or cycle more often. The event has also raised an incredible total of more than £85 million for charity. The event did not take place in 2020 and 2021 due to the pandemic and that pause enabled us to put in place many changes and improvements to the event, including the partnership with Essex County Council. A hiatus in 2025 enables us to reimagine the event for future years.

A number of different start waves will set off at regular intervals during the day. The first wave starts at 08:15 and the final wave of the day sets off at 16:50.
Is there a cut-off time to finish my swim?
We try to allow all swimmers to finish their swim, where possible. However, our water safety team do have the authority to pull people out of the water if the swimmer appears to be struggling. The only strict cut-off time is at the end of the day because we must finish the event by an agreed time. Can I wear a tri suit without having to use a tow-float as well?
No, you will be required to wear a tow-float if you wear a tri suit. It is the buoyancy from the neoprene in wetsuits that is important – a tri suit is just a long swimming costume. As we will have around 6,000 swimmers taking part in the event, our priority is to get everyone out of the water safely. If a swimmer has a serious medical issue in the water, then the buoyancy provided by the wetsuit or tow-float should allow time for us to locate the swimmer and get them out the water.
Can I swim in fancy dress or a different costume?
Fancy dress is only allowed if it does not inhibit your swim stroke or the swimmers around you. Safety comes first and the water safety team's decision will be final on whether a fancy dress or different costume is permitted.
Can I listen to music on a personal audio player during the swim?
No, personal audio devices such as MP3 players are not permitted during the swim because our water safety team may need to communicate with you.

If you paid for the places upfront (‘Community group to pay’), you are able to cancel and re-allocate places in Let's Do This, read about this in the step-by-step guide.

Do you have a medal opt-out policy?
As part of our sustainability goals, for all London Marathon Events in 2025 and going forward, you’ll need to opt in to receive a medal at most of our events as part of the online entry system. If you choose not to receive a medal, you’ll have the chance to take a unique Finish Line photo using one of our selfie frames. These bespoke selfie frames are reserved for finishers who have chosen not to receive a medal.
All of our medals are made from recycled zinc alloy. The process, called zinc die-casting, is a more energy efficient manufacturing process compared to other metal die-casting processes, such as aluminium. We order medals in bulk to reduce freight movements (they are shipped by sea). Any leftover medals are recycled within the UK and the ribbons are recycled too.
I opted not to receive a T-shirt and/or medal when I entered, but have changed my mind. Can I update my choice?
You may update your choice until six weeks before the event via your entry confirmation email from Let's Do This or via your participant dashboard. After this date, changes will not be possible. If you cannot log in to your dashboard, please contact us with your full name, booking ID and the email address you registered with and we’ll be in touch.
