Meet the MPs and peers taking part
Eighteen members of parliament and two peers from across the political divide will be at the Start Line.
In total, 10 Labour MPs will be on the Start Line, as well as five Conservative MPs and three from the Liberal Democrats. Two members of the House of Lords will also be taking part.
From this year’s cohort, nine will be taking part in the TCS London Marathon for the first time as MPs, six from Labour: Calvin Bailey (Leyton and Wanstead), Chris Vince (Harlow), Jessica Toale(Bournemouth West), Josh MacAlister (Whitehaven and Workington), Rosie Wrighting (Kettering) and Zubir Ahmed (Glasgow South West).
The other first-timers are Conservative MP Richard Holden (Basildon and Billericay) and two Liberal Democrat MPs: Wendy Chamberlain (North-East Fife) and Helen Morgan (North Shropshire).
At the other end of the experience spectrum are Conservative MPs James Wild (North-West Norfolk), Jeremy Hunt (Godalming and Ash) and David Simmonds (Ruislip, Northwood and Pinner), who will all be participating in their fourth London Marathon as MPs.
Charlotte Nichols (Labour, Warrington North) will be taking part in the event for a third time and will be hoping to tie Cat Smith and Ruth Cadbury for the most London Marathon finishes by a female MP (three).
Conservative peer Lord James Bethell also returns for his fourth consecutive TCS London Marathon.
The fastest London Marathon time ever recorded by a sitting male MP was by Matthew Parris (Conservative, Derbyshire West) in 1985, when he finished in 2:32:57. The fastest time by a sitting female MP was set last year by Harriet Cross (Conservative, Gordon and Buchan), when she finished in 3:21:11.
Having run 12 apiece, Alun Cairns and Edward Timpson jointly hold the record for the most London Marathons completed as an MP.
