2027 Double TCS London Marathon FAQs

The Finish Line will close at 17:30 on Saturday 24 April.  

Yes, the Saturday event is likely to start at 09:00 and the Finish Line will close at 17:30. The Sunday event is likely to start at 09:30. All details will be confirmed to participants in due course. 
 

On Saturday 24 April, the Finish Line closes at 17:30, so the most time you will have to complete your marathon is 7 hours 45 minutes. If you believe you will take longer than this, please do NOT pay for your Saturday entry and contact our Customer Engagement Team, providing your name, address and booking reference number.  

Yes – if you get a ballot place in the Saturday draw but do not wish to take up the place, simply don’t pay for your place.  

The Finish Line will close at 17:30 on Saturday 24 April. 

 The secondary Finish Line in Green Park will close at 23:59:59 on Sunday 25 April 2027. 

Yes, the route will be the same on both days. 

We are exploring the option of adding an additional day to the existing Running Show format, so it would take place from Tuesday 20 April to Saturday 24 April in 2027. The Running Show will be open on Saturday 24 April, while day one of the Double takes place.  
 

No, this is against our General Conditions of Entry and will result in your place being cancelled.

We are unable to accommodate date changes for entries to the 2027 Double TCS London Marathon.

Unfortunately, we are unable to accommodate requests to change event days for entries in the 2027 Double TCS London Marathon. Your allocated event day is fixed and cannot be changed. 

Further details on the deferral process and eligibility to defer can be found on our unable to take part page. The deadline to defer from the Saturday event will be 23:59:59 on Friday 23 April and the deadline to defer from the Sunday event will be 23:59:59 on Saturday 24 April.

In 2027, the Championships will be split by sex, with men on one day and women on the other day. More details on this will be announced by the end of September. 

Running club places will be allocated on both days in 2027.

Running clubs will get more places in 2027 – the exact number is still being worked out. 

Participants will choose whether they run on Saturday 24 April or Sunday 25 April 2027. Each day is different and each day will start at 00:00:00 and finish at 23:59:59.  

Yes. If you’d like to participate in TCS London Marathon MyWay on both Saturday and Sunday, you must register and pay for each day separately. 

Yes. You can participate in the mass TCS London Marathon on one day and MyWay on the other. You must register and pay for each day separately.

All of the traditional ways to take part in the TCS London Marathon still apply in 2027. These include: Ballot, Charity, Good For Age, Championships, British Athletics Clubs, International and Participants with Disabilities. More information on entering each of these categories will be announced over the coming months.  
 
The TCS London Marathon MyWay event – your chance to complete 26.2 miles however and wherever you wish on Marathon Day – will also take place on both Saturday 24 and Sunday 25 April 2027. Participants will choose whether they run on Saturday 24 April or Sunday 25 April 2027. Each day is different and each day will start at 00:00:00 and finish at 23:59:59.  

No, you can only take part on one day.    

Yes. The 2027 TCS London Marathon Ballot was open from Friday 24 April until Friday 1 May 2026. The ballot is a completely random draw, just like the National Lottery.  


Everyone who has already entered the 2027 ballot will automatically be included in a draw for both days of the Double: Saturday 24 April and Sunday 25 April 2027.  
 
 
 
If you opted to donate your entry fee, giving you double the chances, you will automatically have four chances at securing a ballot place for the 2027 TCS London Marathon.

No, we will not be reopening the ballot. If you did not enter it, please explore our other entry options.

No, donating your entry fee will not determine which day you take part, but it will give you double the chances (ie four chances) at securing a ballot place for the 2027 TCS London Marathon.

Please contact your chosen charity directly. If you have been allocated, or are waiting to hear back from one or more charities, please contact them directly.  As charity entries are managed directly by the charities themselves, they’ll be best placed to assist. Our Customer Services team may not be able to provide any further information.

The male and female Elite, Championship and Good for Age races will take place on separate days which will be announced at the end of September.  

No, this is a one-off unique event for 2027 only.

Yes - this event is currently planned for Friday 23 April 2027.

If you have not received your result by 09:00 (BST) on Friday 10 July  please contact our Customer Engagement Team and we will be happy to help.

All UK charities, including those that don’t currently hold entries in the event, were invited to apply for Saturday charity places. Charities were able to apply for any number of entries from one, up to 200 charity entries for the Saturday of the event. Applications closed on 25 June. All applications were entered into a ballot, with successful charities notified in early July. This provides an exciting opportunity for charities that are new to the event to get involved. An application process is open to charities wishing to purchase charity entries for Saturday. Full details are on our Charity partners page. Charity entries for Sunday 25 April 2027 have already been allocated. 

Yes, charities with entries already secured for the Sunday are welcome to apply for charity entries on the Saturday as well. 

The 2027 TCS Mini London Marathon will take place on Friday 23 April 2027. This is a change from the usual event day on the Saturday before the TCS London Marathon. 

Entries will be open to schools to bring groups of their pupils to the event.  

Schools can enter the event from January 2027. If the event is oversubscribed, there will be a ballot to decide who receives the places. 

Yes – all schools who participated in 2026 will be invited back in 2027.  

There were 22,000 places in the event in 2026 and there will be a similar number in 2027.  
 

The details of the 2028 event will be confirmed by the end of 2027. Our intention is to continue to grow the event so more children can participate.  

We will confirm arrangements for the TCS Mini London Marathon championships in due course.
