Everything you need to know about the 2027 TCS London Marathon Double
Taking place on Saturday 24 and Sunday 25 April 2027, this one-off format change will see London Marathon Events (LME) transform the TCS London Marathon – already the most popular marathon on the planet – into a spectacular two-day celebration.
The expanded event will further elevate the global impact of the TCS London Marathon, which, in 2025, was recognised as the number one marathon brand in the world.
The unique Double format will welcome 100,000 participants across the two days, all taking on the same iconic route, from Greenwich to Westminster, in what will be an unprecedented weekend of sport, charity and community celebration.

Taking part and ballot results
How can I take part?
All of the traditional ways to take part in the TCS London Marathon still apply in 2027. These include: Ballot, Charity, Good For Age, Championships, British Athletics Clubs, International and Participants with Disabilities. More information on entering each of these categories will be announced over the coming months.
The TCS London Marathon MyWay event – your chance to complete 26.2 miles however and wherever you wish on Marathon Day – will also take place on both Saturday 24 and Sunday 25 April 2027. Participants will choose whether they run on Saturday 24 April or Sunday 25 April 2027. Each day is different and each day will start at 00:00:00 and finish at 23:59:59.
I didn’t enter the 2027 TCS London Marathon ballot when it was open from Friday 24 April until Friday 1 May 2026. Will you be reopening it?
No, we will not be reopening the ballot. If you did not enter it, please explore our other entry options.
Will there be a ballot and how will it work?
Yes. The 2027 TCS London Marathon ballot was open from Friday 24 April until Friday 1 May 2026. The ballot will be a completely random draw, just like the National Lottery.
Everyone who has already entered the 2027 ballot will automatically be included in a draw for both days of the Double: Saturday 24 April and Sunday 25 April 2027.
If you opted to donate your entry fee, giving you double the chances, you will automatically have four chances at securing a ballot place for the 2027 TCS London Marathon.
Does the Double TCS London Marathon in 2027 mean I have double the chance of getting a place?
Yes!
If I opted to donate my entry fee when I entered the 2027 TCS London Marathon Ballot, will this determine which day I take part?
No, donating your entry fee will not determine which day you take part, but it will give you double the chances (ie four chances) at securing a ballot place for the 2027 TCS London Marathon.
When will I find out whether I have a ballot place?
We will share your ballot result with you in July.
I’m hoping to secure a charity entry and have some questions about the London Marathon Double, who should I contact?
Please contact your chosen charity directly. If you have been allocated, or are waiting to hear back from one or more charities, please contact them directly. As charity entries are managed directly by the charities themselves, they’ll be best placed to assist. Our Customer Services team may not be able to provide any further information.
Can I take part on both days in 2027?
No, you can only take part on one day.
When will I be informed of which day I’ll be running?
You will be informed in July 2026.
How will Elite, Championship, Good For Age, and Wheelchair competitions be scheduled?
All races with a Championship/award element (Elite, Championships, Good For Age) will be split by sex. One day will be elite men, T53/T54 men, Championship men and Good For Age men, followed by the masses. The other day will be elite women, T53/T54 women, Championship women and Good For Age women, followed by the masses. (Please note that the masses will not split by sex on each day.)
Is this going to be the format every year from now on?
No, this is a one-off unique event for 2027 only.
Will there be a TCS London Marathon & Friday Night Lights event in 2027?
Yes - this event is currently planned for Friday 23 April 2027.
I deferred my 2026 entry to 2027 – am I still eligible for a place, and can I choose which day to run?
All eligible participants who deferred from the 2026 TCS London Marathon will be allocated a place on Sunday 25 April in 2027.
Championship and British Athletics Club entry
When will the Championships take place in 2027?
In 2027, the Championships will be split by sex, with males on one day and females on the other. More details on this split will be announced in due course.
How will running club places work? Will it be male/female as per the elites?
Running club places will be allocated on both days in 2027.
Will running clubs get double the number of places in 2027?
Running clubs will get more places in 2027 – the exact number is still being worked out.
TCS London Marathon MyWay
How will MyWay be impacted?
Participants will choose whether they run on Saturday 24 April or Sunday 25 April 2027. Each day is different and each day will start at 00:00:00 and finish at 23:59:59.
Charities
Do charities get additional places?
All UK charities, including those that don’t currently hold entries in the event, can apply for Saturday charity places. Charities may apply for any number of entries from one, up to 200 charity entries for the Saturday of the event. Applications are open from 19 June and will close at 16:00 on 25 June. All applications will be entered into a ballot, with successful charities notified in early July. This provides an exciting opportunity for charities that are new to the event to get involved. How can charities get involved in the 2027 Double TCS London Marathon?
An application process is open to charities wishing to purchase charity entries for Saturday. For full details are on our Charity Partners page. Charity entries for Sunday 25 April 2027 have already been allocated.
Can the same charity take part on both days?
Yes, charities with entries already secured for the Sunday, are welcome to apply for charity entries on the Saturday as well.
TCS Mini London Marathon
When will the TCS Mini London Marathon take place?
The 2027 TCS Mini London Marathon will take place on Friday 23 April 2027. This is a change from the usual event day on the Saturday before the TCS London Marathon.
Who can enter the 2027 TCS Mini London Marathon?
Entries will be open to schools to bring groups of their pupils to the event.
When will entries open?
Schools can enter the event from January 2027. If the event is oversubscribed, there will be a ballot to decide who receives the places.
If my school had places in 2026, will they get them in 2027?
Yes – all schools who participated in 2026 will be invited back in 2027.
How many children will take part?
There were 22,000 places in the event in 2026 and there will be a similar number in 2027.
What will happen to the event in 2028?
The details of the 2028 event will be confirmed by the end of 2027. Our intention is to continue to grow the event so more children can participate.
What about the TCS Mini London Marathon Championships?
We will confirm arrangements for the TCS Mini London Marathon Championships in due course.
