Every day, autistic people and their families navigate a world that too often isn’t designed with them in mind.
From overwhelming environments to widespread misunderstanding, the barriers they face can make everyday life harder than it needs to be. In 2027, the National Autistic Society want to change that.
It’s Time to Show Up
Autism is part of everyday life for more than 700,000 autistic people in the UK; yet public understanding hasn’t always kept pace. Too many autistic people face stigma, isolation and a lack of support – because society hasn’t made room for difference.
That’s why our 2027 London Marathon campaign, It’s Time to Show Up, is a call to action for all of us. Showing up doesn’t have to be complicated. It’s about noticing. Listening. Allowing more time to process. Making space. Choosing inclusion, at work, at school, in communities and in everyday moments.
Whether you’re taking on 26.2 miles, fundraising from home, cheering by the roadside or simply sharing our message, there’s a role for everyone to play – and every action matters.
A legacy that lasts beyond the Finish Line
Being Charity of the Year is about far more than one unforgettable Sunday in April. It’s about what happens next.
Funds raised through the 2027 TCS London Marathon will help us create an Autism Help Hub and app, designed to support around two million people each year who turn to us for advice and guidance. The hub will bring together expert information, practical tools and peer‑to‑peer support, transforming how autistic people and their families can access help when they need it most.
This is about building a future where autistic people feel understood, supported and able to thrive – long after the medals are handed out.
