Team Green baggage-free Start Assembly Area at the 2026 Brighton Marathon
After a successful trial at the 2025 TCS London Marathon, we’re launching a Team Green baggage-free Start Assembly Area at the 2026 Brighton Marathon.
Participants will receive an email inviting them to join Team Green on Wednesday 14 January. There are 1,500 places available, which will be offered on a first-come, first-served basis.
Reducing the number of baggage lorries used at the Brighton Marathon is one of the steps we are taking to manage our environmental impact.
The Team Green Assembly Area will have:
- Extra toilets
- Seating
- Free tea and coffee
- A Water Refill Station
- A reusable Brighton Marathon-branded HydraPak SpeedCup to use at our Water Refill Stations
If you opt in, you will have two options:
- No kitbag – perfect for the thousands of participants who already prefer not to use a kitbag.
- Bag drop-off in the Finish Area at Hove Lawns on Saturday 11 April (the day before Marathon Day) – participants can drop off a small bag or rucksack to have waiting for them after they cross the famous Finish Line.

FAQs
My friend/partner has a place in Team Green, but I don’t. Can I change my wave so we can run together?
No. All start times are based on participants’ predicted finish time, which each participant provides when they complete their registration form. If you would like to run with someone, we recommend agreeing somewhere to meet up on the course.
I don't want to run with any of my personal items, can I drop off my phone/keys at the Start?
No. Team Green members will be able to drop off a bag in the Finish Area at Hove Lawns on Saturday 11 April to have waiting for them in the Finish Area.
If you don’t want to run with any items on Marathon Day, please leave them with one of your supporters. Please do not bring any bags to the Start Assembly Area. We will not be able to transfer them to the Finish.
Will there still be a place to drop my clothes that I bring to the start to keep warm?
Collection containers will be available near the Start Line so you can donate any extra layers of clothing that you don’t want to run with. The clothing is collected by a team of volunteers and donated to Shelter – the housing and homelessness charity – to sell in its shops.
