The course

The 10K route follows the Brighton seafront, taking in some of the city’s most famous sights – including the Peace Statue, the West Pier, the Grand Hotel, and the Royal Pavilion.

Marine Parade provides breathtaking views out to sea before the party atmosphere that’ll greet you along Madeira Drive.

This is where the music will be pumping and the crowds roaring as you head towards the Finish Line at Hove Lawns.

It starts and finishes at Hove Lawns – a large stretch of grass on Brighton’s seafront.

On Event Day this area will be buzzing with excited participants preparing for one of the UK’s most scenic runs.

You can expect high-energy tracks from the event DJ to get you warmed up.

There’ll be lots of friendly staff, including a brilliant bunch of volunteers, who’ll welcome you at the Start, support you on the route, and celebrate with you at the Finish.

Here’s the route rundown:

  • There is a Drinks Station at the 5K mark, providing water in cups. There are Water Refill Points at 4K and 6K.
  • Toilets, including accessible toilets, will be available at the Start and Finish, plus on the route at 4K, 6K and 7.5K.
  • If you have a bladder or bowel condition, register for a Just Can’t Wait Toilet Card. It’s issued by the Bladder and Bowel Community and explains that you need urgent access. There are bladder pads at the Information Points and Drinks Stations.
  • The course is broadly flat, with a total ascent of 24 metres. The highest point is 25 metres above sea level.
  • Accessible for wheelchairs, the route surface is tarmac roads/promenade with a 200-metre section of block paving.
  • One steady hill at 3.5K, on St James’s Street, for about 400 metres. The elevation change is plus 14 metres.
  • One steep downhill section at 5.25K, on Duke’s Mound, for about 200 metres. The elevation change is minus 14 metres.
  • If you’re chasing a PB, the fast flat sections tend to provide a helpful breeze – so relax on the hills and save your energy for the flats.
  • If you find loud noise or music overwhelming, just a heads up that the stretch along Madeira Drive will feature sound systems and activities from our event partners, as well as the brilliant Brighton crowds who’ll be cheering you on. You’ll be on Madeira Drive from 5.5K to 7K.

Please be kind, patient and supportive of your fellow participants and staff, as the 10K welcomes people with hidden disabilities.

For example, this may mean that someone needs some additional time to communicate with you, or that someone may need urgent access to the toilet.
