Spectator Guide

Essential info

Thank you for playing an integral role in making The Big Half an unforgettable experience!

Your cheers and encouragement fuel the participants' spirits and create an electric atmosphere!  As well as watching along the route, you're welcome to join in the fun at the free Festival Area in Greenwich Park where you can celebrate with family and friends.

To make your day as smooth as possible, please remember:

  • Cutty Sark DLR station is closed for engineering works.
  • Navigate the crowds: Tower Bridge and Cutty Sark can get extremely busy, so plan ahead to find the best spots to cheer on your loved ones.
  • Meeting points: if you're meeting someone after they've finished, decide on a meeting point in advance. We recommend using the Meet and Greet Area at the Festival in Greenwich Park.
  • Stay connected: don't rely solely on your phone, as reception might be patchy in congested areas. Have a backup plan to stay in touch.

Plan your journey

We recommend using public transport and, where possible, walking or cycling.

Road closures start from 04:00. You can view the roads affected on our closures page. Buses travelling on these roads will either be diverted or will not run the full length of their route. To find out more visit TfL's site. For real-time info, download the free TfL Go app or use their journey planner.

Cutty Sark Docklands Light Railway station is closed for engineering works. If you intend to use public transport to or from the Finish Area, please consider using other train stations, such as Greenwich, Maze Hill, or Deptford. You could use the Thames Clipper riverboat service from Greenwich Pier or the Greenwich Foot Tunnel, which connects Cutty Sark to Island Gardens in Tower Hamlets.

We recommend using our green travel tool to find your best low-carbon travel routes.

Plan your journey
