Managing our environmental impact at the GetPRO Bath Half

Find out what steps we are taking to manage the environmental impacts of this incredible event.

Pre event

  • Our entry system offers everyone the choice of having a tree planted instead of having a Finisher T-shirt through our partnership with Avon Needs Trees.
  • Runners can also choose to not take a medal and to have a unique finish-line photo with Bath Half selfie frames.
  • Our Green Travel Planning Tool helps participants with their travel plans - highlighting the lowest carbon travel methods and offering the option to make a voluntary donation to remove the carbon emissions associated with their travel. We will provide a link for this in the coming weeks.

On the day

  • The finisher’s medal is made from recycled zinc alloy.
  • Event T-shirts are made from 100% recycled polyester.
  • There will be tap water refill stations at the start area and at the finish as well as at points around the course after cup water stations.
  • Cups used at drinks stations are compostable and are sent for composting locally.
  • Generators are powered with HVO (a vegetable oil fuel that replaces diesel).
  • Clothing dropped at the Start line will be collected and donated to be reused, reprocessed or recycled.
  • Many of the event vehicles are electric.
  • Bike parking is available at the runners village.
  • Donate clean and serviceable running clothing at the Preloved Sports CIC donation point in the Event Village.  Clothing is either sold to generate funds for community sports projects or is distributed to community sports groups.
  • Donate any unwanted (serviceable and clean) trainers to our JogOn donation point in the Event Village. Trainers are redistributed to schools and community groups around the UK where they are most needed.
  • Our staffed recycling stations ensure that we get the best level of waste segregation so that as much as possible can be recycled, reprocessed and composted.
  • For those who chose not to have a medal, grab a photo at the Finish Line with one of the Bath Half selfie frames.
