The Vitality London 10,000 will welcome about 20,000 participants in a celebration of running on the closed roads of London.
Sights including Admiralty Arch, St Paul’s Cathedral, the Bank of England, Somerset House, Big Ben, the Houses of Parliament and Westminster Abbey await the participants before the finish in front of Buckingham Palace. This year’s official starter will be London 2012 Olympic champion and Vitality ambassador, Jessica Ennis-Hill.
This year’s event will shine a light on the individuals who are changing the narrative about what being a runner looks like. Vitality’s 2024 Active Women, Healthy Lives study found that the three major barriers that keep women from being physically active are a lack of motivation, a lack of enjoyment, and a fear of judgement around physical ability or body image.
Journalist and author Bryony Gordon and comedian and author Helen Thorn, who led the first iteration of the Celebrate You campaign in 2019, will take on 10K with almost 3,000 other participants in a dedicated wave designed to champion body positivity.
At the front of the event, Eilish McColgan, the fastest British woman in history over 10K, heads to the capital as the favourite to secure a record-equalling third win, following her victories in 2022 and 2024.
McColgan finished third at the 2025 Great North Run and is preparing for the 2025 TCS New York City Marathon in November. The 34-year-old holds the female course record at the Vitality London 10,000 of 30:23, set in 2022.
A win at this year’s event means McColgan will equal the record of five-time Olympian Jo Pavey, who will be running with the masses as part of her group Running at 40, which aims to inspire middle-aged runners.
McColgan will be joined by a top-class women’s field that includes Jessica Warner-Judd, the third-fastest British woman in history over the 10K distance, Alexandra Bell, and Lily Partridge. More information is available on the Vitality London 10,000 website.
Also taking part this year is six-time Paralympic champion Dave Weir, who set a new course record when he won The Big Half elite men’s wheelchair race on Sunday 7 September, and Great Britain track and cross-country international Zak Mahamed.
The Greenstreet Collective, a group that inspires women to be active, will have 50 women taking part in their first 10K, having received coaching and guidance through Coopah, the Run Coaching App.
On both days, the popular Vitality Wellness Festival returns in Green Park with a host of free family-friendly activities and sports. In 2025, this includes an increased offering for female participants, such as health checks and expert bra fitting advice. Full details are available on the Vitality London 10,000 website.
