Maverick Race was founded by outdoor enthusiasts based in Dorset, who love exploring the natural world.
One of the founders discovered trail running after moving away from cycling and quickly realised what many outdoor lovers already know: once you've experienced the freedom of the trails, it's hard to go back.
For the team, the appeal is so much more than exercise. It's about discovering new places, embracing challenge and finding space to breathe in a busy world.
As Brittany, Maverick's first employee and now a key member of the leadership team, explains, being out in nature offers a chance to step away from everyday pressures and enjoy that "breath of fresh air" that only the outdoors can provide.
That philosophy shapes every event.
Unlike traditional events that focus purely on results and finishing times, Maverick places huge value on community. The goal is to create experiences where participants feel supported, encouraged and connected. Whether that's chatting at a feed station, celebrating together at the Finish Line or sharing stories out on the trails, the social side is just as important as the physical challenge.
It's also a key reason the Maverick Jurassic Coast Hike was created.
Participants can choose between two spectacular distances: a 24.3km Half Marathon that showcases highlights of the Jurassic Coast, including the iconic Old Harry Rocks, or a more demanding 43.5km Full Marathon route that explores some of Dorset's most dramatic coastal scenery.
The team recognised that more people wanted to enjoy trail events without necessarily running them. By introducing hiking events, Maverick hopes to make the outdoors more accessible while keeping the same supportive atmosphere that runners have enjoyed for years.
Brittany explains: "We try and harness the difference between having community and bringing lots of people together but also allowing that space to explore and discover at your own pace."
The hike represents a natural next step for an organisation that has spent a decade helping people explore some of Britain's most beautiful landscapes. It's an opportunity to welcome walkers, fundraisers, families, dog owners and first-time adventurers into the Maverick community.

When participants arrive at the Start Line, they'll be greeted by spectacular scenery and a passionate team committed to making everyone feel welcome.
