The TCS Mini London Marathon returns for 2026 on April 25!

The free-to-enter event takes place on Saturday 25 April. On Saturday, you will also see: the TCS Mini London Marathon Championships, the 2.6K event for athletes in secondary school years seven to 12; and the TCS Mini London Marathon, the event for schools to run, jog, walk or wheel in the heart of the capital. There is a one-mile route for children in Reception to Year 7 and a 2.6K route for those in Years 4 to 12 who can go a bit further.

Event timeline

It might be called Mini, but it’s a big event!

  • In 1986, the first event saw children from London’s 33 boroughs run a course that started on Tower Bridge.
  • In 2000, teams from the English counties were invited based on their performance at the English Schools Cross Country Championships.
  • In 2005, teams representing Wales, North Ireland, and Scotland were added.
  • In 2009, regions replaced county teams.
  • Now we have the Championships for the speediest young people. It is the biggest, free one-day children’s activity event in the country, and there is also an option to participate in the virtual event, Mini London Marathon in schools.
