Starting near Corfe Castle, hikers will journey through a landscape rich in history and natural beauty.

"Each 5K is slightly different,” says Brittany, from the Maverick team. the Flora Maverick Trail Jurassic Coast Hike, on Sunday 18 October, features rolling hills, woodland sections, dramatic cliff-top paths and sweeping sea views. The scenery continues to change as the miles clock up, creating the feeling of several walks rolled into one adventure.

You can choose between two spectacular distances: a 24.3K Half Marathon that gives you the highlights of the Jurassic Coast, including the iconic Old Harry Rocks, or a more demanding 43.5K Full Marathon route that explores some of Dorset's most dramatic coastal scenery.

There are also some memorable landmarks along the route.

Corfe Castle provides a striking backdrop at the start, while the coastline delivers iconic locations including Chapman's Pool and St Aldhelm's Head. On clear days, hikers may even catch views of Portland on the horizon.

Rugged but rewarding

"It's a very easy route to follow" says Brittany, but don't mistake that for an easy stroll.

The Jurassic Coast is famous for its undulating terrain and there are plenty of climbs and descents to keep things interesting.

One of the most talked-about sections comes after St Aldhelm's Head, where the path drops dramatically before climbing again – an unforgettable reminder of the coastline's rugged character.

The power of community

The good news is you're never alone at a Maverick event. The team describes the Jurassic Coast Hike in one word: community.

Unlike traditional races where people rush off immediately after finishing, Maverick events are designed to encourage conversation, connection and shared experiences.

There are plenty of opportunity to chat, celebrate and enjoy the day together.

Another major plus? Dogs are welcome. So, if your four-legged friend loves a long walk and coastal views as much as you do, they can join the adventure too.

Everyone is invited

The event is also designed to be accessible. Maverick created the hike to open up its trail events to more people and provide an enjoyable challenge for walkers, fundraisers and those who simply want to experience the outdoors without the pressure of racing.

Expect stunning scenery, a supportive atmosphere, a few tough hills, and a real sense of achievement when you cross the Finish Line.
